Nice, years ago I serviced many a Norton at Curley Sutton's Custom Cycles
on Brookside. Drag raced a Norton Commando at TIR a few summers.
Bring out all the old Brit Bikes and other vintage iron. Everyone likes to vidy
the nostalgic bikes.

I remember lusting after a blue SL-70 when I was 13.
Did Evinrude actually build motorcycles? Looks a lot like an RD350.

The man that built the Evinrude Bike is a very famous motor-sports figure, Tulsan Roy “Goob” Tuller. You will most times find him wearing his "Train Engineer's" suit as he drove the World's Fastest Train for many years.

He was the engineer of the Freight Train double engine dragster that ran at most drag strips across the US. Don Garlitz named it one of the top five most famous dragsters ever built.

Low ET gas “ 8.07 “ Tulsa World Finals ’65 (disallowed; NHRA said car was too light!) “ Tuller

Best Appearing Crew “ Winternationals “ ’66 “ Tuller

· First Gas Dragster in the sevens “ ’66 “ Tuller

· Top Gas Bakersfield “ ’67 “ Tuller

· Top Gas “ Bristol Springnationals “ ’67 Tuller

Image

Freight Train ‘engineers” included (in no particular order) Bob Brissette, Craig Breedlove, Tom McKewen, Mickey Thompson, Bill Alexander, Leonard Harris, Roy “Goob” Tuller, Billy The Kid Scott, Jerry Glenn, Bob Noice, Sam Davis (pictured), Walt Rhodes, and the infamous Floyd Lippencotte Jr., alias Bob Muravez. Behind each and every one of them was the “real” engineer of the entire saga, toiling quietly in preparation for another of its seemingly endless appearances, John Peters.

This coming Sunday. Weather calling for 72 Degrees! Could turn out to be a prefect day for a motorcycle ride, lunch and the annual gathering.

Spread the word around, this deal is always lots of fun to attend and take a look back into the history of motorcycling in Oklahoma.

May want to have Bob Rick pin-stripe something your brought while you browse through the photos, motorcycle newspapers and magazines, visit with folks and eat lunch.

Ride over and enjoy some food, friends and good old fashioned bench racing from the past.

The gathering has grown quite a bit over the past first two years.

First year I did not have the proper directions and lots of folks got a good ride for the day, but never found the correct destination, second year signs were up to help those that don't do much trail riding. :)

This year should be much eaiser to find the location with the google maps, tom-toms and other GPS equipment available.

A bunch of old triumphs. I'm in. I wanted to go last year but got my dates mixed up. Not this year.
